Chae Sung Baek for Jared Wells?! Can anybody tell me why this is a good trade in any way. The Padres receive a guy with a career ERA of 4.96 and also has given up more hits than innings pitched. I know Jared Wells isn’t any kind of super prospect, but what I do know is that I would rather see Jared Wells (who has slightly better upside than Baek) or one of the other minor leaguers we recently called up eat up some innings and gain major league experience over a guy like Baek. We already know what we’re getting from a guy like Baek, basically an innings eater who on his best day will keep the Padres in a game or two per month as a starter. Why not just keep Wells and give him some more innings. I can see Jared Wells being a significant part of the Mariners bullpen in the future. Cha Seung Baek will be outĀ of a Padres uniform sooner rather than later. As insignificant as this trade is it still annoys me knowing that KT and Alderson probably think the fans are happy that they are making moves and changing the team. What I know is that they are making these insignificant moves that won’t help the Padres now or in the future just to keep the fans from venting out their frustration of how badly the Padres are playing now.
